Breaking the Ice

I had a chat with M today. M is in aastha for the next two weeks unwinding, thinking and exploring himself. M has played a very significant role in my life. He has helped me grow as a person. We were discussing on the list of people who have played a substantial role in his life and I thought it would make sense for me to list some of them who have helped me diagnose various aspects of life here.

M for pushing me in new directions in life. For making me think that life is not restricted to black and white. For being a part of my support group. My mood swings vary like the 12 faces of the moon. I cry, crib, get charged up, scowl, act frizzy, cringe, laugh and blah blah blah.I still fail to see how he puts up with me. The fact is we miss each other like crazy when we are apart and drive each other nuts during our time together.

R for teaching me what passion is all about. R is an ex colleague of mine.R’s passions include MIG, Nanoscience and books. I have always seen R fenced in office with piles of papers and books around him. I have always had short but astonishing conversations with R.Conversations would vary from Indra Gandhi’s Emergency period to bioweapons (banana peels that I love disposing in his dust bin..Ew) I adore R and respect him for his dedication and his noesis in all aspects of his passions.

P for tolerating me forever. Right from the behenji days of mine to the street-smart urban chic I proclaim today. She has taught me how to love unconditionally and give oneself completely without anticipating anything in return. She has been a part of everything in my life. She has known me from the days when Valentines Day was about expecting white/red/yellow roses, wearing pink and red outfits to being completely indifferent. I hope to sustain this relationship so that when I become a cranky grandmother I can brood about my grandkids not heeding my words to her.

B for the warm person that she is. She has a very heavy influence on me esp with her exceptional writing skills. Once B had shared her Diary with me and I was taken aback with her intense writing. She is a wonderful person who has taught me that when you generalize things, stones become diamonds and diamonds become stones. I have been quite fortunate to have known her so well. Another commendable deed that I have learnt from B is to NEVER judge anyone.

Dad and Mom for my upbringing. For giving me the opportunity to experiment with things that I have always craved for. For giving me the independence that I starved for. According to them I have two extremes: I am still a kid who will grease my dress with jam when having breakfast and mature enough to work hard and save up for my taxes.

I have this urge to pen down some facts about me today. But guess I shall restrict it to some other day.

A violet shade of dominance

I am a sucker of beautiful pair of women's feet and i cant stop feasting on them when i find one. And I have always noticed that painting ones nails definitely gives a new look to your feet. Having acquired this new mantra I have been painting my nails regularly for the last couple of weeks. Well i couldnt help noticing a few things that romaticizes this whole thing: For me, when i know that i have not had the time to paint my nails in a week, then its a sign that life is going at a pace which is getting tougher to handle. Well more than anything else its not the fact that I have not had the time but its about how I have not made the time for an activity which hardly takes less than ten minutes which includes the first few minutes of removing your previous shade with thinner and admiring your ingenious handiwork. Anyways, I painted my toes the day before. A nice shade of violet i would say. I have never been so in control of my life. Whee! I would hate to lose this feeling of dominance ever!

P.S I am now the proud owner of a trendy floater, a pen drive with ishtylish blue, pink and white covers and a colourdul artistic mug.
I would like to thank M for the gifts.

A poem for girls...

One of my friends had sent this across to me and i simply loved it:)

I shave my legs,
I sit down to pee.
And I can justify any shopping spree.
Don't go to a barber, but a beauty salon.
I can get a massage without getting a hard-on.
I can balance the checkbook,
I can pump my own gas.
Can talk to my friends about the size of my a$$.
My beauty's a masterpiece and yes, it takes long.
At least I can admit to others when I'm wrong.
I don't drive in circles, at any cost.
And I don't have a problem admitting I'm lost.
I never forget an important date.
You just gotta deal with it, I'm usually late.
I don't watch movies with lots of gore.
Don't need instant replay to remember the score.
I won't lose my hair, I won't get jock itch.
And just cause I'm assertive, don't call me a bitch!
Don't say to your friends, Oh yeah, I can get her.
In your dreams, my dear, cause I can do better!
Flowers are okay,
But jewelry's best.
Look at me you idiot...
Not at my chest !!!
I don't have a problem,
With expressing my feelings.
I know when you're lying,
You look at the ceiling.
DON'T call me a GIRL ,
a BABE or a CHICK .
I am a WOMAN.
Get it? you DICK!?!

"Wow! What a Ride!"

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

Friday evening blues

Its Friday afternoon and our team had one of those special meetings scheduled with the President of our company who had come down from the Overseas office. Its also one of those ocassions when the management suddenly feels how tremendously well your team has been doing and praises about how the company could not have progressed without your contribution. In other words it says " Though you bring tonnes of revenue to the firm all that we can do is to give you a pat on the back. If you ask or more, you get screwed." Each one of you introduce yourself and suddenly the choice of every word and every alphabet that you choose to introduce yourself becomes important. Key strategies are being discussed about improving the team's performance and everyone contributes to it to ink their presence. In a crucial moment like this when everyone is whitewashing themselves to catch the attention of the President of the firm, a cell phone goes ringing from a corner of the room. Everyone looks in the direction of the "desperado Theme music" and stern faces with raised eyebrows look at the person siting in the corner of the room. The person sitting in the corner of the room is highly confused and she looks behind hoping to spot the person whose cell phone is ringing. To add to her confusion, people sitting behind her have their eyes set right on her. By now, she realises the situation and frantically hunts for her cell phone inside her pocket whose ringtone she had changed just a day back. Well by now if you havent realised, the person was me and I could see my managers look which said- Point Noted, you get screwed anyways!

Trip to Shivasamudram

Travelling is just wonderful. Few weeks back I had been to shivasamudram with few friends of mine. The Shivasamudram Falls has twin jumps, Gaganachukki and Bharachukki which are just a couple of kms from each other. The place is not only the home of lovely waterfalls but it also is the location of a Hydro Electric Project. We took the Bangalore - kanakpura -malvalli - Shivasamudram route. The route is filled with lush paddy fields and the various colourful birds on the banks of the river cauvery made it quite a wonderful sight. I have posted some of the pictures here.
